A workspace
The CLM space will enable artisans to share tools and dedicated premises such as a machine room, a varnish room, a photo room and a musician reception area. The Collectif recognizes the difficulty of finding suitable, affordable and sustainable premises for luthiers and bow makers in the Montreal metropolitan areas. It strives to address these difficulties by offering a space that enables artisans to share tools.
A reference center
The group will also become a reference, documentation and training center for the contemporary lutherie community. The documentation will include photos, plans and casts of historic instruments, as well as reference books.
